A girl meets a boy they fall in love and live happily ever after is too overdone. A girl meets a boy, they fall in love but one of them is unfaithful and they fall apart is common too. But sometimes, a girl and a boy meet, they fall in love and well… magic happens. Star-crossed magic…
He was shy to say the least. A bit strange but otherwise, completely harmless. He was really nice to everyone and liked everyone and gave everyone a chance before judging them in his book. People liked him or at least were nice to him back. Surprisingly, no one ever took advantage of him, even though he was gullible and naïve. Basically he’d fall into the shy, sensitive kind of guy.
He had friend, not a lot but good friends who liked him back and for whom he’d take a bullet for.
He’d come from a good and loving family but he found himself depressed a lot of times, possible because he was so bored from staying home so much as his parents were really strict and he was raised studious.
Staying home watching TV, and surfing the web didn’t help his shyness. He was really bad at talking to girls and would often blush and stammer when confronted.
He felt loneliness in his heart and all he wanted was a close friend he could share everything with, someone who’d stick by him and someone he could always count on. What he didn’t know was that Cupid had his eyes on him.
It was another normal day when he decided to chat to his friend online. He was good friend with the guy and he didn’t expect anything life changing to happen.
‘Hi’
‘What’s up?’
The conversation continued for quite a while until the friend added someone else into the conversation. It was a girl.
‘Why is she here?’
Not the friendliest of tries but still, a seed of friendship had been sown between him and the girl. Later that day, in the night he talked to only her. He was smooth, charming and he found it easy to talk to her. They talked for a while with him cracking jokes and her laughing until he got enough cheek to write,
‘Damn, I was going to ask for your number’
He was only joking but she gave him her number. He was beyond happy, for the first time in a while.
Before he sleeping he texted her,
‘Guess who?’
She guessed right and little by little they became friends. Or so he thought.
He was very clueless about it. As they talked, she dropped subtle hints but he never seemed to get it. They still hadn’t met in person but they talked often online and something special was blossoming. Again, he being Mr. Clueless couldn’t notice anything. Her hints were getting more and more obvious but still nothing. He was really clueless. She went as far as saying that she loved him but he thought she was saying it as a friend. Yes, he was that clueless. What an idiot.
Well the girl was charismatic. She made friends with a few of his friends online and told them she liked him. Then his friends told him, who being an idiot, still didn’t believe it. It was one of his friends that had been especially forceful and supportive in making him ask her out. He was actually nervous deep down… him ask a girl out? He, who had been shy with girls tell his feelings to one? He couldn’t entertain that idea in his head. Him have a girlfriend?
He went so far to even ask her to tell his friend that he had asked but she had rejected him
‘Could you tell her that I asked you but you said no?’
‘Sorry, I can’t do it… I don’t lie…’
Well the pressure was building; a lot of people were telling him to ask her out.
Then she told him straight forward that she loved him. He argued that you couldn’t love a person you’d never met but she wouldn’t hear it.
He liked her but as a friend. He didn’t dare like her more than that. She was really pretty and he didn’t know if he could keep her happy. True, the last few months, talking to her had been really fun. He used to come home early just to talk to her and she would do the same too. But, him with a girl… A girl so charismatic, pretty and fun? He just couldn’t do it.
He talked to her; he loved talking to her. He could tell her anything and he knew she’d understand.
One night she asked,
‘Don’t you love me?’
He was so confused; he talked to her for hours explaining how he felt, what she meant to him. He told her he didn’t know if she loved her as he never saw her in real. He then arranged them to meet, as long as she was the one who asked him out…
She agreed.
The plan was set. His parents couldn’t know so he would go to his friend’s place that lived near her, the same friend who had first helped them talk. It was all well till the day came, and the road s were all icy from the snowing so he couldn’t go to his friend’s place. She asked him if there was another way they could meet. He told her,
‘Don’t worry, I promise we will meet this weekend.’
And so it was done with a promise. They moved it a day back, when they would meet in the city.
The day came and he was nervous. Really nervous. So many things that could go wrong…
What if she didn’t like him in person?
What if she was taller than him?
What if a satellite crashed into the Earth and killed them both?
Well he made it to the city without dying but it turned out she didn’t get the bus so she was late. An hour late…
She told him that her friend was there so he should meet up with her to wait. He found the friend and after waiting a while found her too.
She was the prettiest thing he had ever laid eyes on and he couldn’t feel his hand as he hugged her for the first time. He was speechless. He couldn’t talk to her at all, but he could with her friend. He barely got out a few words to her now and then, but it was mostly talking to her friend. The first few hours of the ‘date’ went horribly. He was now starting to feel desperate. He needed somewhere quiet to talk to her but where? He tried benches along the river but got shy and couldn’t even sit beside her or hold her hand. Where? The movies!
And so it was. They went to watch a movie; he didn’t care what movie it was, he just wanted to talk to her… to apologise…
He made a move in the movie hall, as he put his hands around her and let her lay her head on his chest. He could finally talk to her.
‘I’m sorry’
‘For what?’
‘For the horrible date’
‘I don’t think it’s horrible. I’m enjoying … being with you’
He was drunk with joy at those words, his heart beating too fast and his leg started to shake like crazy. He put her hand over his heart and pointed out his leg shaking to her… She laughed.
At the bus stop, he thanked her friend. She had been a very big help to him; her advice was too useful. Then, she came up to him and hugged him.
‘Aren’t you going to kiss me?’
‘Mmm, not today. Next time…’
She got on the bus and rode away. He stood there watching her bug disappear from his sight, and finally breathed a sigh of relief. He was still worried that she was bored with him. So he asked her friend through chat,
‘So she found me boring didn’t she?’
‘Don’t worry, she loved being with you’
He was ecstatic. That night, he finally wrote to her,
‘I love you, too…’
Days, weeks passed. The second date wasn’t much different except for… the kiss. The kiss!
He was so nervous. More worries.
What if his breathe smelled bad?
What is he burped while kissing?
What is a satellite crashed into the Earth killing them both?
Ya…
It went fine though. He couldn’t do it; she made the move. Half way through the movie, she turned around and kissed him. Well not exactly a kiss; more like a mixture between a kiss and making out… kissing out?
Half way through the kiss he pulls back and says,
‘Hmm… you taste like strawberries’
She had spat in his mouth. His inexperience was the reason for that. A very weird first kiss. His first kiss, with the most beautiful girl in the world. He nearly died from a heart failure. Again.
He knew he loved her and she told him that she loved him. He trusted her will all his heart and he loved her more than that. He wrote poems for her drew pictures of her and sand to her too. He was crazy about her and she was the only thing he lived for.
Just to see her again.
Just to hold her again.
Just to kiss her again.
Valentines Day came and went. The day’s date wasn’t very different except that he gave her a necklace and some cacti. She gave him a shirt. The shirt smelled like her. He loved that smell. That perfume became his favourite. It was her smell…
‘I love you’
‘Prove it…actually let me buy some gum first’
Things were great. He was happy. He met her friends and she met some of his. He preferred to be alone with her but she always brought her friends. He didn’t mind… much…
They did have some misunderstandings. He had entered a competition and made friends with a cute girl who he was completely smitten by. He talked about his new friend a bit too much to her and she got angry. She felt slightly jealous and didn’t talk to him for days. It was his fault; he talked about his friend a bit too much. There also were times when she broke some promises to him and he got angry at her but he forgave her.
She told him a deep secret of hers, which changed him. The secret constantly drove him mad with anger. He got into a really bad habit of punching the closest wall to him when he got angry. He couldn’t digest it, it played in his head and drove him insane but he kept this from her. He didn’t want her to worry…
Things were going great or so he thought. He had just spent an afternoon with her, rolling in he grass and just enjoying being with her. He was happy.
He had changed a lot after being with her; he was now more confident, more expressive and cheerful.
She had been going to dance practises for her friend’s birthday. Her partner was another friend of hers, whom he got a really bad feeling from the beginning from, but she assured she loved just him .He trusted her with all his heart and so he was satisfied with the answer. He had seen a few of the guys who liked her, and he knew there were many more. He didn’t feel jealous because he trusted her. And as long as she loved him what could go wrong?
The day of the dance came and went. The next day, early in the morning he went online and found her online too. Then things began to go all wrong.
‘We need to talk, after you come back’
‘You’re breaking up with me aren’t you?
‘Yes… sorry’
‘Why?’
‘I like someone else…’
And just like that he died. He had felt bad news coming but he hadn’t expected this. That day, as soon as he found his best mate, who himself had just broken up with his girl, then pulled him aside and told him.
‘I just joined the club’
‘What club?’
‘The guys who are single club’
He didn’t know why she had done so and she wouldn’t tell him. He cried for days and days.
He asked her for an explanation but she gave none. He sent her a few texts and mail in anger; Mean ones…
He asked her if she loved him at all. She told him that she didn’t and told him to move on and forget her.
He was crushed. His first love had broken him. The pain was unbearable. The girl he’d have died for had killed him. For someone else. All he could do was cry… and punch things in anger…
He soon got better but he was just faking it for her. She looked happy with her new guy and he loved her so only cared for her happiness. He told her that he had moved on.
‘I’ve moved on but can I still love you till I get over you?’
She put up pictures of her and her new guy. He just got more hurt. He couldn’t stop loving her. He promised to himself that he’d get her back… one day…
Days later, after a teary conversation, she told him that
‘Deep down I still love you’
And that she was pushing him away for his own good but she wouldn’t say why. He couldn’t give up on her.
She promised to see him one last time but something was going to happen to her. Something bad, he felt it strong. He was worried for her but he didn’t have to wait long to find out why. Soon after, she came home crying one day and he found her online. Her new guy had hurt her in some way. He had felt it coming. He got angry at the guy for hurting her. He punched a hole in the wall beside him and bruised his hand. She was crying… and he got even angrier at her for trusting the guy. He felt horrible afterwards.
She broke up with the guy the next day. He felt ‘what goes around comes around’ had come true but he never wanted her hurt. He felt sick at himself.
Things patched up between them and they began to be friendly like before. She promised to tell him why she had left him at the first place when he would meet her for the last time.
The day came and off he went to meet her for what he thought would be the last time. She was supposed to come alone but like always she had brought friends along. He wondered if she even knew the meaning of the word ‘alone’ and so thought of buying her a dictionary.
He went around with her that day but couldn’t really talk to her with all her friends around. He asked her to tell him the reason so she pulled him aside to a shop and told him. He had suspected it but he still couldn’t believe it.
She asked him to forgive her and he said he did. He told her that even if she had told him the truth, he wouldn’t have left her because he knew mistakes happen and because he loves her. She was quiet, teary eyed and frowning the whole time. He knew she had been afraid of his reaction, that he’d have left her so she acted on fear. That and to protect him from the hurtful truth. He told her that he’d rather have wanted the hurtful truth than the comforting lie. After all, he had done badly in two exams because he was so much in love with her, and that had distracted him.
Later on the day, she gave him her bracelet as a goodbye present and he bought her a bunni necklace as a present too. They took pictures and he bought them ice-cream. Even in all the woe, he had fun.
In the bus stop, before she left he told her,
‘I still love you’
She replied,
‘I love you too’
And she kissed him. No one else had seen, no one would know.
The next day, she told him properly that she loved him and made a picture for him which said, ‘I still do love you’
She asked for his forgiveness and she also asked for another chance… asked for him to take her back again.
‘Please… I love you…’
‘I love you too… but so what?’
‘Please give me one more chance’
Please…
He didn’t have to think about it much, it was a yes. He trusted her and he thought for sure that she had learnt her lesson.
She told him that she had cried for days when he had told her that he moved on. She told him how she died watching him cry. She told how the other guy never made her feel like he did.
He told her how much he missed her and how he vowed to get her back.
He made her promise to be honest and she promised to love him forever. He felt her love, he knew it was true.
You see, he was an empathy, a person who could feel others feelings and emotions. He could also ‘feel’ things about to happen and he had a strong bond with her, a bond of love.
She could hear spirits. They had been troubling her from when she was very young, disturbing her sleep and concentration. She had told him that her grandparents had been mediums too.
He knew she loved him all the way through and that she did love him truly. He still trusted her with all his heart.
‘Do you really love me?’
‘Of course… why else do you think I’d choose to be with you?’
But she hadn’t learnt anything…
He was away for a weekend and when he came back she broke up with him again. He was sure that it wouldn’t hurt as much this time but he was wrong. He had felt it coming like last time but he had pushed the feeling aside. He had been blinded by love… again.
She wouldn’t tell him why. He guessed his old ‘feeling’ about the friend of hers had finally come true but she denied it.
She said lotta things...
‘I don’t know if I love you’,
then,
‘I don’t love you’,
then,
‘I love someone else, that’s why I left you’…
He could still feel her love but she said nothing. He arranged a ‘last meet’ again but like last time she was with friends. He went with her to her suspicious friend’s house and then he asked her to take a walk outside with him to talk.
‘Why did you leave?’
‘I already told you’
‘But it makes no sense!’
‘I don’t love you anymore’
‘How? How can you stop loving in few days? You’re lying’
‘I’m not lying. I don’t love you’
She wouldn’t look at him and soon became quiet. They came outside the house, he asked her to sit on the stairs with him. She still didn’t look or talk to him. He knew she was lying, hiding something from him. He got her hand and put it over his heart like he did that day, many months ago.
‘Feel that? My heart still races when I’m with you…’
He told her that since she wouldn’t talk to him, he wouldn’t go back up but she asked him a few times so he did. They went in the house and soon she left the room. Soon he found himself alone in the room because everyone else had left. He went to find them and found her crying in the suspicious friend’s arms. As soon as she saw her, she rushed in the bathroom and refused to come out. He sat outside and admitted his true feelings to her, all the hurt and love to make her come out but she didn’t. She didn’t even say a word. He realised that as long as he was there, she wouldn’t come out, so he left but he couldn’t go home after leaving her crying. So he waited outside till she came out with her friends.
She eventually did, but she hid from his sight. Satisfied that she was alright, he went to his bus stop. He watched her turn around…
And wave to him with a watery smile on her face.
His heart nearly exploded. He ran across the street to hug her but stopped, as he knew that she’d like space from him, so he returned to his stop. His heart was heavy from not being able to hold her…
Later that day he found out why she had actually broken up with him, his suspicions and his old ‘feeling’ confirmed. She had obviously learnt nothing. After she knew that he knew, she avoided him completely. She didn’t reply to his mails, calls or texts. She was leaving the country for holidays soon and he felt betrayed. Worst than last time… double heart break…
Soon she admitted doing what she did but with cold indifference. Her awkwardness at him knowing turned to indifference overnight. She wouldn’t say it but he felt love from her still.
He tried everything to forget her: losing himself in company and fun, completely blocking her out and not talking to her. He just couldn’t do it… She still came to him in his dreams asking for help…
Soon he figured that she hadn’t moved on from being hurt by her ex’s. She still used the
‘I’ve been hurt by guys before’
excuse. She still had all of it in her, all the pain and hurt. And yet he still believed that she loved him. He tried to convince himself otherwise, that she didn’t love him at all but he couldn’t do it, as much as he tried.
He soon felt a lot of things, that were to happen and that had happened.
He felt she had acted the way she did from guilt but none of it got to her. He tried to convince her to let go of the pain and hurt but nothing…
He continued to try and forget her but he just couldn’t. He just loved her too much. And he felt she loved him back…Maybe his empathy was wrong for the first time?
Finally, he decided to give up for her sake if not his. He sent her a mail asking if she loved him or not, just a yes or no… That way, things would be final as she had been avoiding that question so far. She had told him she liked others but proved that they were smaller than crushes.
He didn’t know if she was acting like she was to push him away and that she understood it all or that she felt she couldn’t control herself and didn’t want to hurt him. Or maybe simply that she didn’t care…
She had always lied… just secrets and lies, that’s what it’d always been but he couldn’t stop loving and trusting her. How could he believe anything?
And how could he stop loving her after he had promised to love her forever?
He wanted to just disappear…
To stop loving her,
To stop caring about her,
To stop dreaming about her..
Really?
He got his answer. She had pushed him away from her heart so she wouldn't be hurt by the guilt. She was indifferent and cold to him still but for some reason still replied to his ludicrious mails. She didn't tell him her heart even when he asked her again and again. He asked her to just tell him that she didn't love him and help him move on but she wouldn't do that either. She had told one of their friends that she had never loved him, but she still wouldn't say it to his face.
She thought he didn't understand, but he did.
She was crushing through different guys so to occupy her heart away from him.
He had tried for months but he couldn't get through to her. He couldn't keep talking to her, as just that would make him feel sad. He knew he could do no more so he gave up.
All he wanted was for their last talk to be completely honest. He only wanted their end to be free of lies, but she wouldn't get it.
He would like to have met her one last time but he knew that she wouldn't be able to face him and so he didn't try. I just wanted her happy but now...
He gave up. He could do no more.
Life is but a fairy tale... but not all fairy tales end in 'happily ever after'
I read it all, and its funny for me as i know you in real life and this story just gave me flashbacks of scenes when all this happened, when you told me all of this...And im just dissapointed in you as when you fell you decided to stay down instead of standing up.
ReplyDeleteFor all this time i actually believed that u hated her and that u were over her...but u lyed to me. Seriusly when u decide to stand up I be there to help you walk, even if i think thats not a progress you are planning to do
